Bridging the Legacy: Walking in Honor of the Heroes

  • Brown Chapel AME Church 410 Martin Luther King Street Selma, AL, 36703 United States (map)

On Saturday, September 7, at 10:00 AM, Rachelle Zola and Andy Swindler will begin at the Brown Chapel AME Church, walk through the streets and then across the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, ending at the National Voting Rights Museum. This walk honors the legacy of the courageous individuals who, on March 7, 1965—known as "Bloody Sunday"—braved brutal attacks by law enforcement while marching for voting rights. Among those who were there that day were civil rights leaders like John Lewis, Hosea Williams, and Amelia Boynton Robinson. This walk is part of Rachelle's broader journey to address racism in America, reminding us of the ongoing struggle for equality and justice. Call or text Rachelle directly to let her know you’ll be joining her. 720-609-9069
